– White, who suffered a hand/thumb injury on a punt return against East Texas A&M about 10 days ago, practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday. He’s questionable for FSU’s game against Kent State based on Norvell’s comments, “but it was a good step for him today.”
– McCoy, who has missed all of the season so far as well as most of preseason camp with a knee injury, is likely making his debut as Norvell is ‘expecting Lawayne’ to be ready to play against Kent State.
Norvell described the sophomore as a “Tier 1” player for them the other day as he’s expected to be a high-use player and a potential answer at punt returner once he’s back and full-go. For this Saturday, if he plays as expected, McCoy will be on a snap count according to Norvell.
McCoy, per Norvell, had a big touchdown catch on Tuesday.
“Being able to get the ball down the field — that’s where Lawayne is,” Norvell said. “He’s such a versatile receiver. Sometimes guys get categorized into positions, but Lawayne has a great skill set where he can play any of the receiver spots.”
– Wynn is “close” and “getting closer” to making his debut after suffering a lower-leg injury late in camp. The true freshman isn’t expected to return this week, but is “looking at next week,” possibly.
“He could get into that conversation,” Norvell said about a return for the UVA contest. “We’ll see how it goes.”
– Norvell did not provide updates on running back Roydell Williams, tight end Randy Pittman, cornerback Ja’Bril Rawls who were all out for FSU’s last game due to injuries.
