More about the Kristil Krug murder case
Kristil Krug, a biochemical engineer and mother of three from Colorado, was found murdered in her garage on December 14, 2023. In the months prior, she had reported being stalked by someone posing as an ex-boyfriend. Investigators later discovered the threats were fabricated by her husband, Daniel Krug, who used burner phones and his work computer to impersonate the ex and terrorize her.
Prosecutors said Daniel killed Kristil after realizing he could face charges for the stalking. He ambushed her at home, knocked her unconscious, and stabbed her in the heart. Despite no direct DNA evidence linking him to the scene, digital forensics and other circumstantial evidence led to his conviction. In April 2025, Daniel Krug was sentenced to life in prison without parole for first-degree murder, stalking, and criminal impersonation.
