N.J. weather forecast: Wind gusts up to 40 mph at Jersey Shore today could cause coastal flooding

Winds gusts up to 40 mph at the Jersey Shore on Wednesday could cause minor coastal flooding along the Jersey Shore and Delaware Bay during the afternoon and evening high tide cycles.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect for Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem and Ocean counties.

Widespread minor coastal flooding is anticipated, with northeast winds causing water to pile up along coastal areas.

Wind gusts could reach 25 to 35 mph near the coast, with some areas potentially seeing gusts up to 40 mph at the beaches.

Temperatures will remain near seasonal averages, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

The day will be mostly sunny as high pressure builds in from the north, pushing tropical systems Humberto and Imelda out to sea.

Overnight temperatures will drop to the mid to upper 40s, with some northern areas potentially seeing temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s.

The weather pattern will remain stable through the weekend, with high pressure positioned off the coast.

Temperatures will gradually warm, reaching the mid to upper 70s on Saturday and climbing to the upper 70s and low 80s from Sunday through Tuesday.

A cold front is expected to approach late Tuesday, bringing a chance of afternoon showers.

Residents in coastal areas should be prepared for potential minor flooding during high tide cycles and exercise caution with gusty winds.

A small craft advisory remains in effect for marine zones, with seas expected to be 7 to 11 feet on Wednesday.

  1. This forecast is *so* Jersey Shore. Widespread minor flooding is just the weather version of its Tuesday, somewhere around 8pm. Good to know the high pressure is pushing Humberto and Imelda out – they probably just wanted a beach day too. My only real concern is whether the wind will mess up my hair *and* the power for the AC. Cant have it both ways, nature! Glad its mostly sunny though, keeps the tan lines looking authentic. Just gotta watch my step at high tide, maybe wear a life vest. And those seas look huge for Wednesday – maybe bring a surfboard for the boat ride?grow a garden calculator
