In a 4:24 p.m. update, BNA advised departing traffic to use Donelson Pike to ease gridlock and encouraged travelers to allow extra time.
This follows a string of recent disruptions at BNA.
On Oct. 7, staffing issues with air traffic controllers led to flight delays averaging about two hours, affecting more than 39,000 passengers. A ground delay was issued for all departures lasting from 6:32 p.m. until midnight.
Passenger frustration has also been fueled by past roadway congestion.
In mid-September, heavy traffic outside the airport, coupled with a major convention and ongoing roadwork on Donelson Pike, left travelers stranded and some missing flights.
Airport officials said staff are actively working to manage traffic and minimize disruptions for today’s incidents.
Travelers are advised to check flight status and plan extra time for arrivals and departures.
