Alan Cumming Wears Vegan Leather Biker Look for New PETA Campaign

NEED TO KNOW

  • Alan Cumming is the star of PETA’s new campaign for vegan leather
  • The campaign arrived just ahead of New York Fashion Week, which has banned animal furs but not animal skins
  • Cumming appears in an all vegan leather biker look that is a homage to Marlon Brando in The Wild One

Alan Cumming is giving his Traitors’ capes a break and picking up the vegan leather jacket.

The actor and host is the star of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) new campaign, and PEOPLE has a first look.

The “Rebel With a Cause” campaign supports vegan leather and features Cumming, 61, in a look that pays homage to Marlon Brando in The Wild One. Instead of wearing all-black animal leather, the Avengers: Doomsday actor dons a cactus leather jacket by All Saints, vegan leather Dr. Martens boots, and a vegan leather motorcycle cap in the campaign’s poster. To complete the look, Cumming leans against a vintage Triumph motorcycle.

“Be a Rebel with a Cause. Wear Vegan Leather,” reads the text on the poster. The campaign’s premiere is timed to coincide with New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2026. The famous fashion event has banned animal fur starting with the Summer/Spring shows in September, and now PETA is hoping New York Fashion Week will ban animal skins too, especially after seeing how stylish Cumming looks in vegan leather.

According to PETA, the poster — shot by photographer Richard Phibbs — is plastered on facades throughout New York City.

“You can be sexy and powerful wearing vegan leather. I’ve done it. It’s so much cooler to be a rebel with a cause,” Cumming says in the video that accompanies the PETA campaign.

“The dairy and meat industry is incredibly damaging to our planet and to the well-being of animals. There’s loads of plant-based materials that are available today in clothes of all sorts, so there’s absolutely no need to be wearing leather,” he adds.

Cumming is a well-known animal lover. The Emmy-winning host of The Traitors is accompanied on the reality competition by his beloved, equally fashionable dog, Lala. Cumming also campaigned to move Tonka, a captive chimp he starred alongside in Buddy, from private ownership to an accredited animal sanctuary — a journey documented in the HBO series Chimp Crazy.
