Update: Tornado Watch expires; potential for more storms |

A tornado watch that was issued by the National Weather Service for all of Delaware has expired as of 6:00 p.m.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service (NWS) said the primary hazard was expectedto be damaging winds. In addition to the potential for severe storms, widespread heavy rainfall is expected which could lead to localized flash flooding.

The possibility of severe weather has prompted event cancellations including the Brandywine School District Board Meeting along with after school and evening activities; evening activities in the Christina School District; after school activities in Red Clay Consolidated; Colonial School District afternoon activities; and, Appoquinimink afternoon and evening events.

The storm system blasting across the eastern half of the United States has already resulted in severe weather in the Ohio Valley and Southeast, while creating blizzard conditions in the Upper Midwest.

Stay tuned for updates as the weather system approaches.
