Tides reliever Enoli Paredes (1-1) hit Blaze Jordan with a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th, allowing courtesy runner Colton Ledbetter to score the winning run. Paredes had walked Joshua Báez and Jimmy Crooks to start the half inning.
Norfolk (2-3) took a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh on Creed Willems’ first Triple-A home run, a two-run shot to center. It extended his hitting streak to four games.
Memphis (5-0), though, tied it in the bottom of the eighth on Crooks’ solo homer to left-center.
Young allowed a run on five hits in five innings, striking out four and walking none. Andrew Kittredge, on an Orioles rehab assignment as he works his way back from a shoulder injury, gave up a run in 2/3 of an inning. Jackson Kowar allowed Crooks’ homer in the eighth.
Nick Raquet (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory.
Holliday went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk out of the leadoff spot. It was his second straight two-hit game after going hitless in his first three contests, bumping his average to .308.
Crooks finished 4 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs and César Prieto went 3 for 4 for the Redbirds.
Norfolk will try to snap a three-game slide when the two teams play at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
