Road closures, power outages across San Antonio


SAN ANTONIO – Numerous roads across the San Antonio area are closed as heavy downpours continue to overwhelm low-water crossings and drainage systems. Emergency crews are urging drivers to avoid flooded streets and use extreme caution during the morning commute.

The following roads are closed:

  • FM 1976/Gibbs Sprawl Rd
  • Knuepper rd / FM 78
  • N Seguin / Old Cimarron Trail

Updated Schertz road closures

Due to ongoing hazardous conditions, multiple low water crossings and roadways in Schertz remain closed. Officials are urging drivers to avoid all flooded areas and never attempt to cross water-covered roads. “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” remains the key safety message as conditions can change quickly.

Current closures include:

  • FM 482 at John Paul Catholic High School
  • All low water crossings along Cibolo Creek
  • FM 482 at Schwab Road
  • Pecan Drive at FM 1518
  • Oak Street at Pecan Drive area

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes and remain alert for additional closures as conditions evolve.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 a.m., with additional rounds of rain capable of quickly creating dangerous travel conditions and rapidly rising water.

POWER OUTAGES

As of 9:50 a.m., CPS Energy is reporting the power outages that were effecting over 5,000 customers is now down to just over 900 across the San Antonio area.
