You’ll face a whole new way to battle in the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition in the Z-A Battle Club. Up to four players will compete in Link Battles to defeat as many Pokémon as they can within a strict three-minute time limit. During these matches, you can make full use of a variety of moves and Mega Evolutions, so don’t hesitate—go on the offensive!

When a Z-A Battle Club match begins, Trainers will be positioned at different spots in the stage. From there, they send out Pokémon from their team to enter the fray. If your Pokémon faints, you’ll return to your starting point and reenter the battle with all your Pokémon fully recovered. Defeating an opponent’s Pokémon earns you a point, and these points determine your ranking.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Trainers and Pokémon move around together while unleashing moves in real time during battles, and this method of battling also applies to the Z-A Battle Club’s Link Battles. Moves can have a wide range of effects, such as launching attacks in a fixed radius to deal damage to multiple Pokémon at once, targeting distant Pokémon by attacking in a straight line, and more. Make full use of a variety of moves to gain the advantage in the competition.

Don’t forget to collect Mega Power orbs that appear around the stage during the battle. You’ll need these to Mega Evolve your Pokémon. You’ll also be able to find items that temporarily boost your Pokémon’s stats.

You’ll be able to take on the Z-A Battle Club online or through local communication. Test your skills against Trainers around the world in Ranked Battles. During these matches, you’ll earn points based on your place in these four-player battles, along with additional points depending on your performance. Earn enough points, and your rank will rise. Everyone starts off at Rank Z, but with enough effort, you can be promoted all the way to Rank A.

In Private Battles, you can input a Link Code to connect with nearby players using local communication or distant players using the internet. You can even select battle rules from several options and battle against up to three other players using the rules you like.

Check out the Z-A Battle Club in the latest Pokémon Legends: Z-A trailer above, then get ready to join in on these frenetic four-player Link Battles when the game releases on October 16, 2025.
