Police arrest man, locate child after NC Amber Alert


The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man connected to a recent Amber Alert after securing the child.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — UPDATE (September 17, 5 PM): Tyler Toodle has been charged with the following in Sampson County:

  • Felony flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle
  • Felony possession of stolen motor vehicle
  • Misdemeanor reckless driving — wanton disregard
  • Misdemeanor driving while license revoked — not impaired revoked
  • Misdemeanor resisting public officer
  • Misdemeanor child abuse
UPDATE (September 17, 1:30 PM): A man has been arrested in connection with the Amber Alert that was issued on Wednesday morning.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to Hanner Road, Randleman, in reference to a reported kidnapping.

Tyler Ray Toodle and a woman were overheard fighting by a witness, deputies said, and watched as Toodle sped off in a black Honda Civic.

Iris Everly-Marie Fargis was put into a car seat in the back seat of the car. Deputies said Toodle drove off in an unknown direction.

An Amber Alert was issued and the magistrate issued a warrant for Toodle’s arrest, deputies said.

At around 11 a.m., the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office found the car and conducted a traffic stop. Afterwards, deputies said they secured the child and arrested Toodle.

Toodle has been charged with felony kidnapping, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, and misdemeanor driving while license revoked. 

Deputies said Toodle is not the biological father of Fargis but is known to her mother.

A 1-year-old girl is missing from Randolph County, according to the NC Center for Missing Persons.

Iris Everly-Marie Fargis, 1, is missing from Randleman, NC. She is described to be about 2 ft. 1 in. tall and weighing about 23 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

The NC Center for Missing Persons said she was last seen wearing an orange Halloween shirt with a white ghost on the front and black tights with jackolanterns, lollipops and worms.

She is believed to be with Tyler Ray Toodle, 26. Toodle is not the child’s father, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

Toodle is described to be 6 ft. and weighing about 175 lbs. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Randolph County deputies said he has acne scars and scabs on his face.

Deputies said he has the following tattoos:

  • “336” in blue ink on his left arm
  • “Respect” on his right forearm
  • “My Sister’s Protector” on his left arm
  • “$” in red ink on right forearm

Their direction of travel is unknown, deputies said. Toodle is believed to be driving a black 2018 Honda Civic with dark-tinted windows and the NC license tag number JMS6500.
