Fox News co-hosts Greg Gutfeld and Jessica Tarlov got into a heated exchange while discussing Charlie Kirk’s assassination recently.
The exchange occurred during Monday’s episode of “The Five,” during which a rotating cast of hosts debate current events.
Gutfeld asked why political violence was “only” resorted to by the left, a claim that has been shared by President Donald Trump in the days since Kirk’s death.
Gutfeld’s question prompted Tarlov to bring up the killing of U.S. Rep. Melissa Hortman in June. Hortman and her husband, Mark, were shot and killed in their home.
“Did you know her name before it happened?” Gutfeld asked Tarlov. “None of us did, none of us were spending every single day talking about Mrs. Hortman. I never heard of her until after she died.”
Tarlov interjected Gutfeld, asking, “So she doesn’t matter?”
Gutfeld then fired back, “Don’t play that [expletive] with me!”
“You know what I’m saying is there was no demonization, amplification about that woman before she died,” he continued. “It was a specific crime against her by somebody who knew her.”
“The fact of the matter is the ‘both sides’ argument not only doesn’t fly, we don’t care… that [expletive] is dead,” he concluded.
Kirk was assassinated on Sept. 10 while hosting an event at Utah Valley University. The conservative activist was debating an audience member on gun violence when he was fatally shot in the neck.
Tyler Robinson, 22, was charged with aggravated murder in connection with Kirk’s shooting after turning himself in to authorities last week.
