Everton are seemingly making rapid progress in their bid to complete the signing of Malick Fofana.
The winger enjoyed a breakthrough season at Lyon last time out, where he notched 11 goals and five assists in all competitions for the financially-stricken giants.
Fofana is now said to be in advanced talks over a move to Everton, as David Moyes looks to continue his bid to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The Merseysiders have already added three players to their squad this summer, and Fofana is edging towards becoming the fourth summer arrival at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It may not happen immediately, though.

Everton are not yet in advanced talks for Fofana
Jack Harrison’s return to Leeds after the expiry of his loan deal has left the wide areas as a big priority for Moyes and Co. this summer.
Their early pre-season outings have highlighted the need for additional creativity in the final third, and Fofana could be a perfect signing to help facilitate that.
The Toffees looked to have to be nearing a deal to sign Fofana, but Alan Myers has been told that is currently jumping the gun.
The journalist wrote on X (26 July): “Everton have a strong interest in Fofana, but it’s premature to say anything is advanced at this point, I’m told.”
Myers also pointed out the fact that there are several other clubs that are keen to sign the Belgian this summer, which suggests that there is still plenty of work to be done if Fofana is to be wearing the famous blue shirt.
Everton’s summer is gathering pace
Everton are also close to completing the signing of Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich, with a deal already agreed to bring the left-back to the Premier League.
If the Toffees could also close off a deal for Fofana in the coming days, they would have successfully rectified two areas of major weakness within the squad ahead of the opening day of the season.
Their summer began in fairly laboured fashion, and Thierno Barry remains the only real standout addition.
However, it now seems as though Moyes and the Friedkin group have a renewed sense of urgency as they go about their business, which was evident in the speed at which the Aznou deal has progressed.
Everton may not have made a move for Fofana at present, but it would be no surprise to see them move quickly once again if they can get their foot in the door in negotiations.
