Alexander Shevchenko vs Radu David Turcanu
Head-to-head: First meeting
Turcanu’s ranking has hovered in the 600’s in recent months, and a win here would mark a massive breakthrough. Shevchenko’s season, meanwhile, has turned a corner after he stunned Ben Shelton at the Miami Open. Clay courts suit the Kazahk a little better, and he’ll be motivated to recover from a first-round of this tournament last season. Turcanu should feel motivated at home, but the lack of experience may shine against a seasoned opponent.

Christopher O’Connell vs Mariano Navone
Head-to-head: First meeting
Both players possess wildly different styles of play, with O’Connell dependant on aggression and craft, as Navone tends to stick to the baseline. While O’Connell’s win rate on clay is lower than 40% throughout his career, Navone has won nearly 53% of his clay-court matches. The Argentine’s ranking has dropped after a successful 2024 season, and some strong tournaments in smaller clay court events could help him get back to that level.

Gabi Adrian Boitan vs Elmer Moller
Head-to-head: First meeting
Aside from a Davis Cup win, home-favorite Boitan is looking for an elusive ATP Tour win. Moller has lost his last three matches rather convincingly, though the 22-year-old has slowly been on the rise. Boitan hoisted an ITF-level trophy on clay earlier in 2026, as all of his championship match appearances have come on the dirt. He will surely be motivated for a win in front of the home crowd, and Moller will have to play consistent tennis to avoid the upset.

Sebastian Baez vs Vilius Gaubas
Head-to-head: First meeting
It’s been an interesting season for Baez. The Argentine started the season off with a flourish, but when defending major ranking points at the ATP 500 Rio and ATP 250 Santiago event, he faltered. Now ranked No. 50, these tournaments early in the clay court season could help him build some momentum. Gaubas tends to play his best tennis on clay, but Baez simply has more weapons to bring to the court. Baez is the defending finalist from last year’s event.
