
The next Super Mario Bros. movie officially has a title, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The second installment in this record-breaking series of animated movies (see “‘Super Mario’ Over $1B“) will be titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and is set to hit theaters on April 3, 2026. The second movie will see the return of Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Jack Black as voice talent.

Paramount Skydance, backed by the Ellison family, is getting ready to enter a bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, according to The Wall Street Journal. The deal would be for the purchase of all of Warner Bros. Discovery, which includes its cable networks (CNN, TBS, TNT), movie studio, and HBO Max. This acquisition would more notably bring together two sizable streaming services under one banner, Paramount+ and HBO Max. The bid comes on the heels of the Paramount/Skydance deal closing in August 2025 (see “Paramount, Skydance Deal Closing Soon“).

HarbourView Equity Partners led a $30 million investment into Lion Forge Entertainment, according to Variety. Lion Forge Entertainment specializes in family entertainment, and recently had a second 10-episode season of Iyanu greenlit by Cartoon Network and HBO Max (see “‘Iyanu’ Gets S2“).

Sony Pictures Entertainment released a trailer for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc (see below). This is the first Chainsaw Man movie, based on the popular anime series (see “’Chainsaw Man’ Trailer, Date“), and will hit theaters on October 24, 2025.

Principal photography of the new Highlander movie (see “‘Highlander’ Greenlit“) has been pushed back because Henry Cavill, the star of the movie, was injured during training for the movie, according to Deadline. Production on the film will now be pushed back to beginning in 2026.
