KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Monday is a First Warn Weather Day as the Kansas City metro grapples with strong storms, flooding and prolonged heat.
Monday
A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 1:15 p.m. in Cass and Jackson Counties in Missouri, along with Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas.
Radar indicates about 1-3 inches of rain have fallen, and an additional 0.5-1.5 inch or more may fall. Minor flooding in low-lying areas, roadways, rivers, creeks, etc. will be possible. Please remember to “turn around, don’t drown” if you encounter a flooded roadway.
The dangerous prolonged heat wave may break today with clouds, rain, storms and heavy rainfall continuing into the early afternoon hours. However, if clouds break and sun takes over, temperatures will heat up fast. Due to this potential of getting some sun, the First Warn Weather Day and Extreme Heat Warnings remain in place through Thursday.
