Talyn Taylor was hoping for a bounce back after a crucial drop in Georgia’s loss to Alabama. That bounce back will have to wait, as he suffered an upper-body injury during practice the following week. Taylor has since undergone surgery, and a timeline for his return is unclear at this point.
Taylor was listed as out on the Wednesday availability report prior to the Ole Miss game.
Taylor appeared in Georgia’s first four games this season. He’s had 2 receptions for 28 yards in that time.
Taylor dropped what could’ve been a touchdown pass in the Bulldogs’ 24-21 loss to the Crimson Tide. While that was a disappointing outcome for the true freshman, Smart expressed his confidence in the young receiver on Monday.
“Talyn’s deal was tough, but Talyn will grow from it. He’s a tough, competitive kid. He practices his butt off,” Smart said. “Every time we’ve called his number, he’s answered it. He’s going to continue to do that. I mean, the guy’s a worker. I told him that, look, we’re going to come back at you and continue to use you, and just keep getting better. That’s all you can do: keep getting better. Block out the outside noise.”
The 6-foot, 190-pound Taylor was one of five high school receivers that Georgia signed in the 2025 cycle. A native of Geneva, Illinois, Taylor committed to UGA last June, choosing the Bulldogs over Notre Dame and Ohio State.
