MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 4, 2025) — A major-injury head-on collision early Thursday morning shut down a stretch of State Route 165 near Turner Avenue near Hilmar in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported on Dec. 4th around 5:20 a.m., when callers told dispatchers that a silver vehicle had gone off the roadway and possibly into an orchard.
