How Odegaard compares to other key Arsenal stars as he reaches 200 games

Martin Odegaard is set to reach a significant milestone this weekend, with the midfielder in line to make his 200th appearance for Arsenal when they face Leeds United. Since joining the club in 2021, he has become one of the most important figures at the Emirates, both on and off the pitch.

Initially arriving on loan from Real Madrid before securing a permanent move later that year, Odegaard quickly established himself as a central part of Mikel Arteta’s project. His influence, leadership qualities and consistency earned him the captain’s armband, a role he continues to hold after his teammates voted for him to remain skipper at the start of this season.

While injuries have occasionally kept him sidelined, most notably last season when he suffered a serious setback, Odegaard has generally been a constant presence in the side. His availability and reliability have been key factors in Arsenal’s progress over recent years, helping them consistently challenge at the highest level.

The Norwegian has developed into one of the leaders of the squad, setting standards both in training and on matchdays. Reaching the 200-game milestone reflects not only his ability but also his durability in one of the most demanding leagues in world football.

According to Arsenal Media, since making his debut for the club in January 2021, Odegaard has played more matches than any other Arsenal player, with 199 appearances. In comparison, Bukayo Saka has featured in 197, Gabriel in 195, Gabriel Martinelli in 194, and Ben White in 161. In terms of minutes on the pitch, only Gabriel (16,714) surpasses Odegaard’s total of 15,370.

These numbers highlight the extent of his contribution, underlining his importance to Arteta’s side across multiple campaigns. His presence in midfield has provided structure and creativity, ensuring that Arsenal remain competitive both domestically and in Europe.
