Jack Draper’s 2025 U.S. Open kicks off today, with a first round match against Argentina’s Federico Agustin Gomez. He’s hoping to repeat some of the magic of his run last year, when he made it to the semifinals before losing to eventual winner Jannik Sinner.
“I’m looking forward to the crowd,” he tells Town & Country. “I think the energy in New York City is like no other to be honest. The crowd gets to into the matches, I think people here love sports and it always gets very rowdy at the U.S. Open and someone who loves that interaction with fans and, you know, that whole environment. Honestly, this tournament brings the best out of me so I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Ahead of the tournament beginning, he celebrated with Burberry at a dinner co-hosted by Tommy Paul at the buzzy Corner Store restaurant in New York City. “Celebrating with Burberry last night was a big thing alongside Tommy Paul. We really enjoyed it, I think it was a lot of fun to see lots of new faces and just to start the U.S. Open on a real, real positive,” he says. “It was a wonderful evening, and it reminds me every day how lucky I am to have such great people that I work with and yeah, I’m just extremely happy the way things have gone so far here in New York and Burberry is the best way to kick that off.”
In April, he was announced as an ambassador for the brand. “Teaming up with such an iconic brand such as Burberry means the world to me as an athlete,” Draper says. “I think so much of the time we’re on the court, we’re training, we’re competing, we’re traveling the world and there’s a lot of hard work that gets put into that. As you get a bit older and start making your own decisions a little bit more, style has always been a thing that means a lot to me and so to be partnered with Burberry and to be able to express my style through my clothes and what I wear, that is just honestly a privilege and a big honor for me and it makes me feel more confident and great about myself.”
Earlier this year, Draper won Indian Wells, which catapulted him into the top 10 rankings for the first time. Cheering him on was Kate Middleton, an avid tennis fan and the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. “Congratulations, Jack. A fantastic performance. Well Done,” she posted on social media, signing the message “C” for Catherine.
