Livvy Dunne Reveals What She’d Be Doing If She Weren’t a Lifestyle Influencer

Livvy Dunne would have a very interesting job if she weren’t a content creator and lifestyle influencer today.

SportsCenter asked the former American gymnast and other athletes, such as Shaq, Los Angeles Sparks’ Rickea Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles’ Cooper Dejean, Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson and others, what jobs they would have if they weren’t athletes. Dunne simply responded with “underwater welding.”

Underwater welding, which is considered one of the most dangerous jobs, is the process of joining metals beneath the surface of the water, typically in oceans, lakes or other large bodies of water.

To become an underwater welder, you need a combination of welding and commercial diving certifications, along with physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging conditions. Those interested in this career should also have graduated from high school, pursued formal welding training and gained certification, and then attended a commercial diving school.

The 22-year-old competed for LSU’s women’s gymnastics team from 2020-2025, and helped them win their first NCAA gymnastics title in 2024. She got an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus in leadership, sociology, and communications. Outside of gymnastics, she gained huge popularity as a social media influencer, building a massive following on both TikTok and Instagram.

After finishing her master’s degree in Technology Management and officially retiring this past April, she fully transitioned into a full-time lifestyle influencer and content creator. She also has continued her partnership with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, marking her third consecutive appearance in the 2025 edition and her first time on the cover. Additionally, the former gymnast is dating MLB pitcher Paul Skenes.

Though Dunne has made a name for herself as a gymnast and influencer, her unexpected dream of becoming an underwater welder shows fans how diverse her interests really are, proving she’s more than just her public image.
