Raleigh, speaking with reporters one day after he refused to shake Arozarena’s hand before a plate appearance at the World Baseball Classic, told reporters, “there’s no beef with Randy. … He’s my brother.”
Raleigh said he already spoke to Arozarena about the situation, as well as Mariners manager Dan Wilson.“I hate that this is a thing,” Raleigh added.
Wilson, for his part, told reporters in the Mariners’ spring training camp (including Daniel Kramer of MLB.com) that “these guys are incredible athletes because of their competitiveness, and that’s where they’re at. And that’s why they’ve gotten to the level that they’ve gotten. But I also know that our team loves each other deeply, and that’s one of the key ingredients we have in that clubhouse, is how much they love each other. So I don’t anticipate this being any bit of an issue.”

In the March 9 WBC game between the United States and Mexico, Arozarena reached out to shake hands prior to his first at-bat. Raleigh, the catcher for the U.S., refused.
Arozarena told reporters in Spanish that Raleigh said “good to see you” — and unloaded on the American League MVP runner-up after the game.
“The ‘good to see you’ he said to me, he can shove it up his [expletive],” Arozarena said in Spanish.
The U.S. beat Mexico 5-3 in WBC pool play, and might meet again later in the tournament.
