Week 2 of the NFL season is upon us and the action will get started on Thursday night with the Washington Commanders visiting the Green Bay Packers at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
The Packers’ 2025 campaign got off to a roaring start with the team mostly dominating the Lions in a 27-13 victory last Sunday. Contributing to that victory was rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden, who made his NFL debut in the contest.

Below, we’ll go over Golden’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 2.
Fantasy Football analysis: Packers WR Matthew Golden
Golden made a light contribution to the Packers’ victory on Sunday, catching just two targets for 16 yards in his NFL debut. As Matthew Bets of Fantasy Footballers pointed out, he ran just 13 routes on Jordan Love’s 23 dropbacks throughout the contest. That’s not a good sign if you took Golden in your fantasy drafts as it once again appears that the Pack will go with a committee approach when it comes to their receivers.
Something to also note was that the rookie was listed with an ankle injury on this week’s injury report. He was a full participant in Tuesday’s walkthrough practice and appears to be ready to go for Thursday. But given that this is a short week and Thursday nighters don’t necessarily yield good results for fantasy managers, I’d stay far away from Golden for this week.
