Embiid has not played since Feb. 26 due to a right oblique strain. The Sixers will need the big fella to return sooner rather than later so Philadelphia can get everybody on the same page headed into the final stretch.
“He was on court again today (Monday),” said coach Nick Nurse. “Had a decent workout again today as part of shootaround. Then had his workout after shootaround. We got another, I think what I would consider a heavier session tomorrow. Then we’ll see where he’s at.”
Maxey is set to be re-evaluated at the end of March for the right finger tendon strain he’s been dealing with. He has bene out since March 7. He has been working out mostly with his left hand, but he was seen using his right hand at shootaround on Monday morning.
“Pretty good,” Nurse said of Maxey. “He’s working pretty hard. He’s getting some decent workouts in. He’s moving a lot. He is doing some workouts primarily left-handed. He has taken some shots right-handed. I believe he’s got another evaluation here coming up this weekend or early next week. So, hopefully, we’ll be at the 3-week mark and we’ll see from there. I know that’s kinda the minimum of the three weeks and we’ll see where he is from there.”
Nurse and the Sixers will continue to try and stay afloat until their main stars can return to the floor.
