PSN Is Down and Having Issues on Sept. 3 Affecting Parties

Can’t see friend invites to games or can’t see your friends list on your PS5 and PS4? It’s not just you, as players have reported issues with the PlayStation Network on September 3 (Sept. 4 for those outside the US), with most reporting issues creating parties or with their friend lists.

What’s odd here is, some players are able to log in normally, while others are having issues connecting to PSN as it says services are busy and that they should try later.

There is no maintenance announcement from Sony, so this is something unexpected for a lot of gamers.

PSN Parties, Friends List and Connection Issues Affecting PS5 and PS4 Gamers

Multiple reports have surfaced on Reddit about the PSN connection issues, with gamers bombarding downdetector with tickets, which saw over 3,000 new reports.

The official Ask PlayStation X (formerly Twitter) account hasn’t said anything or acknowledged the server issues yet, though that should be changing soon. Even the official PlayStation Network status page lists everything as “all services up and running.”

We suspect that will change soon. Again, we want to point out that some people are able to connect normally, while others are having issues. It might be a DNS issue, hence why some aren’t affected.

While you’re waiting for the servers to go back up, why not check the new PSN Store sale “Ready, Set, Play!” promotion to see if there are any titles you might want to pick up.

We’ll be monitoring the situation and will update the article as more info surfaces. If you can connect (or can’t), leave a comment and let us know which country/area you’re connecting from, so that other gamers are aware.

In other PlayStation news, a State of Play dedicated to 007: First Light airead earlier, where we not only got our first gameplay look at the action game, but also its release date, pre-order bonuses, info on its voice cast and more.
