At the time, Sport Witness was informed the Italian side had plans for the midfielder this season and therefore didn’t want to sell.
Frattesi had been struggling for game under Simone Inzaghi, but things were expected to change under Cristian Chivu.
So far, that hasn’t happened. TuttoSport now take a look at the 26-year-old after the failed move to Newcastle United.
The newspaper note that the Italy international is yet to start even once for Inter this season. In the entire campaign, he has played only 72 minutes accross all competitions.
Chivu spoke to Frattesi before the start of the season to assure him about his spot in the side. His plan was to switch to a 3-4-1-2 system soon. Now, the Inter manager believes that the team isn’t ready to move away from a 3-5-2.
As a result, Frattesi isn’t playing enough. Even if the Nerazzurri have injury problems to deal with, he is unlikely to start against Cremonese on Saturday.
TuttoSport believe this can spark questions about his future at Inter.
There have been indications recently that Newcastle United are still interested. So if things don’t go right for Frattesi, the Magpies could yet be an option for him.
