Heisman Odds: +800

2025 Stats: 66.9 completion %, 2,461 yds., 21 TDs, 1 INT, 159.45 QB rating; 87 rush yds., 2 TDs; 23 total TDs

Play vs. Currently Ranked Opponents: 3 games — 66-of-98 (67.3%) for 1,599 yds., 12 TDs, 1 INT; 42 yds., 1 TD

4Q Combined Stats: 39-of-61 (63.9%) for 296 yds., 3 TDs, 0 INT; 31 rush yds.

Last Time Out: 21-of-35 for 277 yds. with 1 TD and no INTs; 8 rush yds. in a 20-9 victory over LSU

Team Record: 8-1 and ranked No. 4

The Candidacy: Ty Simpson may not stand out the most among this group, but the Alabama quarterback has been efficient. Simpson has thrown one interception this season — which came against Vanderbilt — and has helped the Crimson Tide become national title contenders once again.

When you consider teams that were ranked at the time they played Alabama, the Crimson Tide are 4-0 against ranked teams with two of those wins coming on the road. Simpson’s stats stand out from the pack when you just consider the three teams they played that are still ranked. Simpson completed 67.3% of his attempts against Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee. In those three victories, he threw for 1,599 yards with 12 touchdowns and just 1 interception.

Simpson had a really strong day at Georgia in Week 5, which I imagine would come up if voters were deciding between him and Stockton. Simpson can further his chances with excellent play the next three weeks at home against Oklahoma, at home against Eastern Illinois, and at Auburn.
