Craig Conover has a new business venture on his plate—and it’s a big one.
The “Southern Charm” star has announced the launch of his TV production company, Plaid Horse Productions, with Media Trifecta. The company will produce a lineup of “ensemble-driven reality cast shows,” competition series, and more, Deadline reported on Sept. 8.
In a statement about the launch, Conover, 36, said, “After spending over a decade in front of the camera, it feels awesome to be stepping behind the scenes and getting involved from day one—helping shape the vision, build out the programming, and connect with the right people. Being part of something from the ground up like this is really exciting, and honestly, I couldn’t ask for a better team to bring Plaid Horse Productions to life.”
Conover’s Sewing Down South Partner Will Helm the Production Company
Conover is best known as a main cast member on “Southern Charm.” The Bravo reality show just filmed its 11th season. He is also a lawyer, a restaurant partner, and a business owner with the home goods franchise, Sewing Down South.
Conover’s Sewing Down South business partner, Jerry Casselano, will be the President of Plaid Horse Productions.
Conover has credited Casselano and fellow partner Amanda Latifi for helping him to realize his dream of becoming a business owner. The trio split the Sewing Down South business three ways.
In a February interview with KARE 11, Conover admitted it was a big decision to share his pillow business idea. “My dad was like, ‘Do you want 100 percent of this company with zero sales, or do you want 33 percent of a company that might turn into something?’” he shared. “When my two partners came on, that’s when it turned into a real business. And that was a little over five years ago.”
Craig Conover is Busy With Other Ventures
News of Conover’s production company comes a day after it was announced that he will appear as a guest judge for Season 23 of “Top Chef,” alongside his “Southern Charm” co-star Madison LeCroy. He has also launched a wedding venue business in Charleston, SC, with his friend and co-star Austen Kroll.
Speaking with Interview magazine in July, he revealed, “Austen and I are opening a wedding venue in Charleston, even though we can’t stop fighting with each other all the time. It’s slightly more affordable than a lot of places down here. It’s an all-in-one location, so you can do your ceremony, your reception, and your afterparty there.”
“Maybe I’ll get my officiant’s license,” the “Southern Charm” star teased.
