Transition to warm weather expected in central Indiana – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A transition to warmer and drier weather is expected to begin on Thursday.

Today:

The current upper-level low affecting Central Indiana is bringing scattered showers, particularly to the southern parts of the region. These showers are expected to continue throughout the day, with the heaviest rain likely in the south.

As the day progresses, northerly winds will begin to bring in drier air, limiting the chance of rain by the afternoon. The clouds and rain will keep temperatures in the 70s, which is slightly below average.

Tonight:

An upper-level wave will cause another round of showers, especially in the far south. However, the heaviest rain and thunderstorms are expected to remain south of Central Indiana.

Thursday:

By Thursday, the weather is expected to improve as the upper wave moves east, allowing drier air to settle in. This will lead to clearer skies and more comfortable conditions, with temperatures in the mid-70s.

This weekend:

The weekend promises to be warm and dry, with high pressure bringing sunny skies and temperatures reaching near 80°F. This pattern is expected to continue into early next week, with only a slight chance of increased humidity by mid-week.

Extended outlook:

The long term pattern also looks to be warm and quiet.
