Ben Shelton’s girlfriend is football star Trinity Rodman.

Ben Shelton received a tough question at the end of his press conference late Wednesday evening at the US Open, and it did not come from the media.
The sixth seed’s girlfriend, football star Trinity Rodman, made a special appearance inside Interview Room 1 at Flushing Meadows to put her partner on the hot seat.
“How did it feel not being able to serve faster than 135 today?” she asked. Shelton hit eight aces and lost serve just once in his second-round victory against Pablo Carreno Busta, but his max serve speed was 135 miles per hour.
“Why did you give her a question?” Shelton asked, cracking a smile.

“I know you like to serve big, and it wasn’t breaking 140 today,” Rodman said.
Shelton paused, and provided a serious answer. “It was cold outside, so I think that was the main reason,” he said. “I was focused on hitting spots, and I didn’t hit those spots. So maybe I should have just served bigger. It’s something that I’ll definitely work on next time.”
Earlier in the session, a reporter asked about having Rodman at the tournament and whether he would watch her play football after the US Open.
“Yeah, that’s the plan 100 per cent hopefully. She’s been grinding to pull up to a lot of tournaments this year,” Shelton said. “At the beginning of the year we’re like, yeah, we’re not really going to see each other, and she’s been to Munich, Madrid, Paris, Wimbledon, Mallorca, D.C., Cincy, here. We doing all right.”
But the press conference will be remembered for the guest reporter, Rodman. As Shelton rose to exit the room, he shared one more comment with a smile.
“Let anyone in the room at this point, huh?”
