The Tigers enter Friday night with a huge bit of momentum, having just swept the American League West-leading Houston Astros. Detroit outscored the ‘Stros 18-2 in the process.
The team’s performance was helpful in the Tigers continuing their winning ways, as they remain one of the top teams in Major League Baseball. Detroit has now won seven of its past eight games and nine of the team’s last 11 contests. It also marked the first time this month the Tigers have swept an opponent, as they have not taken a three-game set since sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks at home late last month.
The Tigers now get to face a Royals team that is coming off a four-game series with the Texas Rangers, with Kansas City having won six straight games.
The Tigers sit atop the American League Central, 9.5 games ahead of the Royals. KC is two games back of the last Wild Card spot.
