The project will bring new connectivity to more than 6,000 homes and businesses across Columbia County. Residents and local companies will have access to Xfinity’s high-speed internet and more reliable Wi-Fi options.
As the area joins Comcast’s nationwide network, Vice President of Public Relations Jennifer Bilotta shared what it means for the community.
“It’s not just high-speed connectivity. It is also Xfinity Mobile. So, if you’re an internet customer, you can take advantage of Xfinity Mobile. It’s designed to save our internet customers money on their wireless bills,” said Bilotta.
“Families who are signing up for Xfinity Mobile are saving up to 50% off of the big three. It is significant. We also have our Internet Essentials program that’s low-cost internet for low-income families. We also offer Xfinity Home, a home security service,” said Bilotta.
But what does this mean for Bloomsburg specifically? Bilotta said the expansion will bring major benefits to both students and local businesses.
“Students need high-speed connectivity to do their research, to use AI, to join class online virtually, get together with their classmates,” said Bilotta.
“We also offer Comcast Business to local businesses, small and large. And we have a whole host of solutions for those businesses. So, it’s not just connectivity. It’s how they can protect their businesses from cyber-attacks, how they can offer the best Wi-Fi experience to their customers,” said Bilotta.
Bilotta also highlighted a new offer: eligible Xfinity Mobile customers can receive a free wireless line for a full year, and she shares how these advancements are shaping the future of connectivity.
“We just rolled out a whole lot of new enhancements to our Xfinity Mobile service, like unlimited device protection and upgrades. Better pricing, even better pricing, which I think, you know, it’s hard to believe because it’s pretty amazing as it is,” said Bilotta.
“We are investing and creating technologies that are bringing the next generation services available to people who are using the internet at home and at their businesses,” said Bilotta.

Connections will be made in phases, with the full project on track for completion in 2027.
