Comcast announced on April 21 and April 27, 2026, the expansion of its Xfinity high-speed internet network to over 10,000 homes and businesses across Columbia County, Pennsylvania, and the Missouri cities of Adrian, Archie, and Butler.
The infrastructure project provides multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds and converged Wi-Fi services to rural regions as part of a national connectivity initiative. Residents in Bloomsburg have already begun connecting to the network, with the full multi-state expansion slated for completion in 2027.
Jennifer Bilotta, Vice President of Public Relations, emphasized the broader service integration available to new subscribers in the Pennsylvania region.
“It’s not just high-speed connectivity. It is also Xfinity Mobile. So, if you’re an internet customer, you can take advantage of Xfinity Mobile. It’s designed to save our internet customers money on their wireless bills,” said Bilotta.
The company is positioning its mobile and low-cost internet programs as essential tools for household budgeting.
“Families who are signing up for Xfinity Mobile are saving up to 50% off of the big three. It is significant. We also have our Internet Essentials program that’s low-cost internet for low-income families. We also offer Xfinity Home, a home security service,” said Bilotta.
Bilotta noted that the expansion specifically targets the needs of the academic and professional community in areas like Bloomsburg.
“Students need high-speed connectivity to do their research, to use AI, to join class online virtually, get together with their classmates,” said Bilotta.
Small and large enterprises are also eligible for specialized security and networking tools through the company’s business division.
“We also offer Comcast Business to local businesses, small and large. And we have a whole host of solutions for those businesses. So, it’s not just connectivity. It’s how they can protect their businesses from cyber-attacks, how they can offer the best Wi-Fi experience to their customers,” said Bilotta.
New service enhancements include updated device protection plans and a promotional offer for a free wireless line for one year.
“We just rolled out a whole lot of new enhancements to our Xfinity Mobile service, like unlimited device protection and upgrades. Better pricing, even better pricing, which I think, you know, it’s hard to believe because it’s pretty amazing as it is,” said Bilotta.
The project represents a long-term investment in next-generation hardware for residential and commercial use.
“We are investing and creating technologies that are bringing the next generation services available to people who are using the internet at home and at their businesses,” said Bilotta.
In Missouri, State Senator Rick Brattin characterized the broadband expansion as a vital development for the state’s rural economy.
“This broadband expansion is a major victory for communities across rural Missouri. Access to reliable, high‑speed broadband is no longer optional, it’s the backbone of economic growth, workforce development, and opportunity,” said Brattin.
He further noted that the investment bridges the gap for various sectors including agriculture and education.
“Investments like this ensure families, farms, schools, and small businesses can fully participate in today’s digital economy, and it’s encouraging to see Comcast help close the connectivity gap for our region,” said Brattin.
State Representative Sherri Gallick highlighted the impact of infrastructure on the long-term vitality of smaller cities like Archie and Adrian.
“Bringing advanced broadband infrastructure to communities like Archie and Adrian reflects a real commitment to expanding opportunity,” said Gallick.
She linked digital access to improvements in essential public services for residents.
“When residents have access to fast, affordable Internet, it strengthens education, improves healthcare access, and supports the long-term vitality of our cities. This is exactly the type of forward-looking investment that helps rural communities thrive and stay competitive,” said Gallick.
State Representative Dane Diehl stated that the project positions the city of Butler for future digital growth.
“Expanding high-speed broadband in Butler is a meaningful step forward for our community,” said Diehl.
Diehl credited the company for strengthening regional access for workers and students alike.
“Strong connectivity helps local businesses grow, gives students and workers access to new opportunities. Projects like this make sure Butler is positioned to succeed in an increasingly digital world, and I appreciate Comcast’s role in strengthening access across our region,” said Diehl.
Regional Senior Vice President Kalyn Hove affirmed the company’s intent to continue deepening its presence throughout the Midwest.
“Comcast’s expansion into three additional Missouri cities underscores our continued commitment to bringing high‑speed, reliable connectivity to more communities across the state,” said Hove.
Hove described the mission as empowering customers through necessary modern technology.
“Comcast is proud to deepen our presence in Missouri and help empower more customers and businesses with the technology they need to thrive in today’s digital world,” said Hove.
The Missouri expansion also includes ongoing work in Concordia, Harrisonville, and several other towns expected to finish by late 2026.
