As Sam Burns looks to win his first Masters, cheering him on his wife Caroline Burns (née Campbell) and their son, Bear.
Sam and Caroline both grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, and started dating as freshman at Louisiana State University. “We grew up in the same hometown but went to different schools and so we didn’t start dating until college,” Caroline told WJCL. “But [we have] really known each other forever and… I was his first valentine when we were five years old. So, that’s our sweet story.” Sam added, “And then after that, she wanted nothing to do with me until about high school.”
Here, what to know about Sam Burns’s wife Caroline Campbell:
She graduated from Louisiana State University.
According to her LinkedIn, she graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in marketing (and a concentration in professional sales). After, she attended Westminster Theological Seminary, where she received her Master of Arts in counseling in 2020.
Sam proposed at a golf tournament.
In April 2019, Sam and Caroline were on their way to dinner during the RBC Heritage tournament at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina. “I felt alright until about two minutes before I knew I was going to do it, and then I was kind of a train wreck,” Sam told WJCL.
Caroline recalled, “Sam just asked if I wanted to walk over early ’cause we were ready before everyone else. Right past the restaurant he just stopped me and started talking and then I knew, and then he got down on one knee.”
The couple tied the knot later that year, in December 2019, also at Palmetto Bluff.
Caroline welcomed her first child, Bear, in 2024.
“It was one area where I had some say,” Sam said of their son’s name. “But we both like the name. We wanted to do something a little different.” Sam and Caroline recently announced they were expecting their second child, due this summer.
